Japan's defeat in World War II did not mean the end of one man's military career.

Eiji Miyahara was in Surabaya, when he found out that Japan had lost the war. The 25-year-old Japanese soldier could not believe the news. "It did not feel like we really lost the war. At first, I did not know whether I should go home or not," recalled Miyahara, who is now 83 years old.
