The number of followers of the Falun Gong movement is increasing in Indonesia. Is it a portent of a spiritual need in the country's often bleak large cities?

It was an unusual type of demonstration, far from the rowdy kind which Jakarta has become used to. Around 25 men and women, ranging from youths to the elderly, assembled outside the embassy of the People's Republic of China. Wearing yellow T-shirts and trousers of various colors, their appearance was far from the ferocity of some of Indonesia's demonstrators.
