Suciwati: Family Pilgrimage

Last month, activist Suciwati, 48, at long last was able to embark on a family pilgrimage with her two children to The Hague, capital of the Netherlands. Their objective was to walk down the newly-named, 600-meter Munirpad street, honoring Suci's husband, Munir Said Thalib, former director of the Committee for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), who was murdered in 2004. "I wanted to take them there two years ago, at the official renaming of the street, but I didn't have enough funds for the airplane tickets," said Suci, who was finally able to get promotional tickets for the long journey northwards.
