Making Waves in Virginia

Students from Diponegoro University created a fully automatic mini-boat. It could be further developed to become an unmanned surveillance vessel prototype.

THE little boat sprang into action on a lake in Virginia Beach, USA. Its name, as written on the hull, was Diponegoro Boat Jangkarbumi. After leaving the dock, it navigated through a predetermined path marked with 13 red buoys, while occasionally making evasive maneuvers to avoid the yellow ones. In 15 minutes, it reached the other end of the lake, 200 meters from where it started, and came back through the same route. Crowds along the shoreline
