Last year the People's Consultative Assembly amended Article 30 of the 1945 Constitution, changing the title to Defense & Security and paragraph 2 of the article to read: "Defense and security efforts shall be carried out through a system of popular defense and security by the Indonesian Military and the National Police as the principal force and the people as the supporting force".
