Joseph Stiglitz's criticisms of the IMF have been systematic, thorough and right on target. The response from IMF officials, on the other hand, has been less convincing. But is Nobel Laureate economist Stiglitz accurate in his analysis?

The IMF should not declare that all is well when countries get hit by crisis in the course of implementing their programs. On the other hand, alternatives that could prove more successful than the IMF programs should be debated on a case-by-case basis, although judging by Joseph Stiglitz's book, there is nothing good about the IMF programs.
