Fouda

ON June 8, 1992, they murdered Farag Fouda in Madinat al-Nasr, Cairo. Two masked men attacked him. Fouda was shot dead, and his son was seriously wounded. Jemaah Islamyiah stated: “Yes, we killed him.”

To Jemaah Islamiyah, annihilating Fouda was no sin. After all, hadn’t a group of ulema from al-Azhar University announced just five days earlier that Fouda had slandered religion, and therefore could be killed? One of them, Muhammad al-Ghaza
