I WONDER what Ki Ageng Suryo Mentaraman, the Javanese prince who gave up the palace, would say, if he were alive today? If he were walking in Sudirman Business District in Jakarta, between Pacific Place with its display of flashy merchandise, and the Stock Exchange Building where stock prices are tumbling, shareholders are in a state of panic, and its ceilings are ringing with anxiety?
