ONE day, in the 7th century, two men from Medina, one Muslim, the other Jewish, were arguing. The former extolled the Prophet Muhammad “above all things”. The latter extolled Moses. The Muslim, losing his temper, punched the Jew in the face.
The Jew went and complained to the Prophet Muhammad who governed life in the city. He reported what had happened. So the Prophet called the Muslim in and said to him:
