LOL!

I was confused

A joke sent via mobile phone. And the reply, three letters, LOL.

Only later did a friend explain that the letters stood for ‘laugh out loud’.

I am learning, slowly. There are so many abbreviations. So many reduced signs and odd symbols. I am rather nervously entering the ocean of texting, or ‘short message services’, SMS (in Indonesian we call them san-dek, for pesan pendek, short messages). In other words, I hav
