Poetry has never saved the world, but it can save language from myth and death.

Language dies in blockage of meaning: ‘how are you?’ is often uttered without the speaker really wanting to know the state of the person greeted; ‘assalamualaikum’ does not necessarily mean that the utterer is praying for peace. Words become part of ‘automatic language’: they do not emerge from thought and the heart, nor do they to
