These days we live with drones and selfies. We love them both. We are lightly tripping into a new era—let’s call it the hyper-ocular era—when the visual sense is moving at a great pace, spreading, deepening, to the left, to the right, manyfold.

Recall this scene: thousands of people gathered at a political event or a carnival, someone sets off a drone to direct its camera below, and people start waving, greeting it and jumping about, as though greeting some heavenly guests they know. Most of them will attempt, half-seriously, to get their faces captured by that camera on high. No one knows who for. Even if only three seconds.
