Maryam does not need to wear perfume. Not anymore-the civil servant from Madura, an island off Java, has taken to aromatherapy batik, which is embedded with fragrances like jasmine or gardenia. "It's comfortable to wear," she told Tempo at her office in Bangkalan regency last week. The batik can also absorb sweat. Maryam bought it, an Al Warits brand, for Rp1.5 million. The jasmine it is imbued with is good for overcoming stress and worry.
