THE world is heading towards a distant discourse, but Indonesia is still stuck on the road. When the world is at a creative point of building nations, we still go back and forth worrying over whether to allow ex-communists to take part in the elections or not.

The tragic and bloody event of 40 years ago still affects many people. It seems Indonesians are people who cannot forgive easily and tend to be vengeful.
