THIS year Aceh has awakened from its depression. Apart from the successful one-year implementation of the Indonesia-Free Aceh Movement memorandum of understanding, the Aceh Governance Bill (UUPA) was endorsed on July 11, 2006 and its direct regional head elections (Pilkada) will soon take place.
