HIS appearance is typical of those from the coastal areas of Acehdark skinned with a sharp nose and curly hair. His name is Saiful Syamsudin and although he claims to originate from the Veranda of Mecca as Aceh is sometimes known, there is a nuance of Padang in his accent that allows local people to guess he is an Aneuk Jamee, a newcomer from the southern beaches of the province.

Forty-two-year-old Saiful was born in the village of Air Berudang, T
