S. MALELA Mahargasari had a dream just before Tempo resumed publication. The four years of ban by the ruling regime, June 1994-October 1998, had to be marked with a phenomenal move of the magazine. "This magazine must appear with a symbolic cover, an eye shedding a tear," said Malela, 49, then the Creative Editor of Tempo. "In my dream I saw the roads of Jakarta full of eye, eye, and eye."

That day, October 6, 1998, eventually arrived. Tempo resumed
