CORRUPTION (besides murder, theft, robbery and fraud) is the arch enemy of the Tempo community. From the start, Tempo founder Goenawan Mohamad has often jokingly said: “If you want to be wealthy, let alone an overnight tycoon, don’t work as a journalist.”

Though only a joke, Tempo journalists are aware that they will not get Jaguar cars or Pondok Indah mansions (unless they inherit property, win lotteries or marry prosperous capitalists).
