Some cities organize residents’ activities in open public spaces in the form of urban festivals unrelated to traditions and religions. Citizens or city governments initiate the events. Jember, Bandung, and Samarinda are among them.

Blissful and splendid flashy lamps in Jakarta’s malls and shopping centers add to the festive atmosphere of year-end holidays. All the adornments create places of attraction for city dwellers.
