THERE were plenty of pretty girls at Makassar High School (SMA) No. 3. But in the eyes of student council president, there was only one for him: Mufidah Mi'ad. That's why in the early 1960s a young Jusuf Kalla enlisted five classmates' help to try to win her heart.
Mufidah had just enrolled at the school. The five students showed up at her house with an empty envelope on which had been written 'ARA'. Mufidah had no idea what ARA meant and why they were bringing the envelope.
