The bearded youngsters in turbans and long white robes descended on the Kampung Munjul hamlet in Kayumanis Village, Bogor, West Java, last year. These polite youth were unexceptional except for their attire – and that they were carrying samurai swords. They were members of Laskar Jihad Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah, undergoing physical and military training before leaving for Ambon where they intended to take part in war. They felt they had to g
