A Letter to Eisenhower
IN the midst of his heavy workload as state minister for veteran affairs, Bung Tomo still found time to write political letters. He often lugged his portable typewriter from the dining room to his bedroom, or in the opposite direction.
His son Bambang Sulistomo says his father often typed in the evening, in the dining room of his home on Jalan Jenggala II No.8, in South Jakarta's Kebayoran Baru district. One of his open letters was to US President Dwight David Eisenhower, written to coincide with the opening of the Asia-Africa Conference on April 18, 1955, in Bandung.
