Innovation was a word that often crossed Ade Uu Sukaesih's mind when she took over the leadership of Banjar City on December 4, 2013. Ade was elected mayor, replacing her husband Herman Sutrisno, who was mayor of Banjar for the two previous terms. Ade not only wanted to continue the successes of her husband, she thought a lot about making a number of breakthroughs herself. "We have to keep innovating," said Ade in an interview last April.

Signs of Herman's achievements can be seen everywhere. Neighborhood streets at the edge of the city are better than those in Ciamis Regency, to which it originally belonged. In Karyamukti Village of Pataruman District, for instance, roads are paved. In Puloerang Village, Lakbok District, Ciamis, which borders Karyamukti, the streets are thinly paved and rough.
