THE house on Jalan Pemali in Kebon Dalem in the Central Java district of Pemalang is deserted. The roof tiles are broken in many parts, shattered by lemonade bottles thrown onto the roof by angry residents. No sounds of children's laughter are heard any more from the house. The unpainted plastered walls are scrawled with graffiti, including one which reads: "The Bali Bomber's House."

Neighbors say Joko Pitono alias Dulmatin left with his wife
