THE characters of The Cockroach Opera live in the world of cockroaches; but they are still human. In the opening scene, the booming voice of Harry Roesli echoes, They are packed like sardines in gutters, while others play golf. They are but cockroaches, cockroaches, cockroaches! as dozens of people crawl out from their hiding places under dilapidated huts.
