Often, when I tell people that I translate from Indonesian into English, they ask, "Why? Can't people just use Google Translate?" I usually just change the subject. I find it too difficult to explain how translation has nothing to do with looking for dictionary word-for-word so-called equivalents. People who ask that kind of question have not really thought about how language works.
