After failing to pass the Phase 1 clinical trial, researchers continue to work on the Nusantara vaccine pioneered by Terawan Agus Putranto, but under a new arrangement. The Indonesian Military is said to be divided in its stance on the polemic over the vaccine. In the United States, this research is also said to be problematic. THE Sexual Violence Eradication Bill returned to the national legislation limelight on 23 March. This is the fruit of the labor of women’s rights activists who have been tireless in realizing legislation to protect women from sexual violence. But the struggle is far from over. Since it was first proposed by the National Commission on Violence against Women in 2012, the draft regulation has been in limbo. After entering the national legislation program in 2016, the bill remained unpassed. Women’s rights activists have gone through a winding road to convince the House of Representatives and the government so that the draft regulation can be immediately discussed and passed.

The Commission is currently in the process of reviewing the plan to revise the Judicial Commission Law to delineate the boundaries of its jurisdiction.

SWEDISH Ambassador to Indonesia, Marina Berg, arrived in Indonesia five years ago with a clear mission: to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation between Sweden and Indonesia, particularly in the critical areas of sustainable development and the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, her commitment remained unwavering. The Sweden-Indonesia Sustainability Partnership, focusing on the sectors of energy, transport, digital technology, and health, has been actively progressing.
As her term came to an end in August, Marina Berg took the opportunity to share her valuable five years of work in Indonesia during a TEMPO TALKS session.
