Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi: Sukarno’s Legacy in Russia

FOR Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi, 58, his assignment as ambassador to Russia has been somewhat undemanding. Without having to work extra hard, invitations from various parts of Russia have flooded his office desk. Of the 18 states he has visited in the past one and a half years in office, half were at the invitation of local governments and communities. It seems that President Sukarno's popularity among Russians is the secret.

Infrastructure for All

In contrast with his usually modest demeanor, President Joko Widodo touted the success of his administration in building infrastructure projects. While officially launching the Mandalika Special Economic Zone for Tourism in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on October 20, he said that the project was able to go forward thanks to a breakthrough of his doing. "Mandalika has been incomplete for 29 years due to the matter of securing the needed land," said Jokowi.
