LONG-TAILED simians (Macaca fascicularis) can be seen at the Baluran National Park in Situbondo, East Java, on Friday, May 5. Data from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) show that in the past 42 years, the population of the long-tailed simians has dwindled by up to 40 percent globally, putting the animal in the endangered species category since March 7, 2022. Meanwhile, observers have noted the population of the species in Baluran has instead shown a tendency to increase. ANTARA PHOTO/Budi Candra Setya
