President Joko Widodo should not be concerned about the accusations that his government is too fond of borrowing money. Although government debt has risen by more than Rp1,000 trillion in the two and a half years of his administration, Indonesia’s ratio of debt to GDP is still less than 30 percent, far below the average for developed countries such as Japan and the United States.
