Indonesia, Russia To Foster Bilateral Relations

Tuesday, August 8 2017 00:00 WIB

In a bid to expand trade relations with Russia, Indonesia’s Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita brought a mission to Moscow on August 3-5. Enggartiasto said that discussions with Russia focused on expediting the finalization of two agreements designed to boost trade with the country, namely the Indonesia-Russia Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and the Indonesia-Eurasia Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Enggartiasto’s agenda during the Russia visit included promoting sustainable palm oil practices and increasing Indonesian commodity exports. This is in line with Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s message of support towards the export of sustainably produced palm oil. President Jokowi had promoted the export of palm oil to Russia when he visited the country last year.
