A Modernist Mosque

Architect Ridwan Kamil designed a cube-shaped mosque made of stone. Simple, yet essential, it was nominated for Building of the Year 2010.

THE mosque sits on a small hill right on the main road. Without ornamentation and without a dome, it just looks like piles of grey and black stones shaped into a large cube. Three of its corners are open with entrances from the east and the north.
