IT all began with an exhibition of Indonesian students in the architecture department of Delft University, the Netherlands in the early 1950s. That exhibition attracted the attention of fellow students. From then on, Han Awal, Sujudi, Bianpoen, Mustafa Pamuntjak, and Soewondo always discussed finding traditional Indonesian architectural elements that could be incorporated in modern styles.
