Meditation in Red at Plaosan

ALL of a sudden the cold, silent and graceful Plaosan Temple in Kalasan, Klaten regency, seemed to come alive. Thousands of bamboo poles were staked outside and inside the temple as if it were being re-created. Visitors to this temple, who ascended to the upper floor and looked far ahead to the tobacco field, would surely catch sight of a low vast stretch of red cloth, going over the green leaves and then up to hang on some parts of the temple.
