FROM the Netherlands, Germany, Cambodia, and Malaysia, the performers of doll theater came. For the first time, Teater Utan Kayu held a Jakarta International Puppetry Festival. A festival that gave the audience a doll and puppet show out of the ordinary. Tempo reports.

THE woman in black seemed to be whispering something into the ears of the dolls that were as tall as her. The dolls were King Kreon and Queen Merope. Then the rulers of the City of Corinth in the Greek drama witnessed a cruel scene before them. A doll (being played by the woman) strangled another doll. The victim lay helplessly. One of its detached legs was left behind.
