IN 1974, S. Sudjojono traveled to Paris and sketched the famous city. Above one of these sketches, Arc de Triomphe, In the Rain, the couplet above was written. It seems that the Parisian weather captured his heart. Another of the sketches, Place de la Republique, was drawn from a room in Hotel Avenue, Paris, where he was staying, and depicts bare trees and cars on the street below.
