Klaten in Central Java is but a small regency town. Never has it risen to fame on the fine arts scene in Indonesia. It has been reduced to a mere junction, where traffic streams from Yogyakarta to Solo and vice versa. Nonetheless, it’s where a seasoned painter has settled and survived with his naturalist style, seen by many as an unprofitable specialty.
