Indonesia, Thailand work more closely after AEC launch

Thai Foreign Minister DonPramudwinai made his first visit to Indonesia, meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi. Both ministers agreed to intensify relationship between the two largest economies in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), following the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). They also discussed three particular issues: trade cooperation, maritime borders and combating terrorism.

"We are strongly committed to improving bilateral economic cooperation," said Retno at the foreign ministry in Jakarta on February 11. Indonesia wants to upgrade collaboration in the strategic industry sector with Thailand, which is currently using Dirgantara's Indonesia-made C-212-400 planes.
