NATIONAL League for Democracy (NLD) politicians established the National United Government (NUG) after the Myanmar military Tatmadaw under Gen. Min Aung Hlaing conducted a coup on February 1, 2021. Duwa Lashi La was appointed NUG Vice President on April 16, 2021, and became acting president when NUG President Win Myint was arrested by the military junta.
