June 25, 1950 The Korean War starts as forces from the communist North invades the South. It lasts till 1953. A Truman administration statement that Korea is “outside the US defense perimeter” in the Pacific is said to have invited the attack. Some 2.5 million people are killed.
June 26, 1843 Hong Kong is proclaimed a British Crown Colony.
June 27, 1993 US warships fire 24 Tomahawk cruise missiles at intelligence headquarters in Baghdad
