FOLLOWING the deadly earthquake in Sumatra in early October, the Australian government announced it would provide 17 million in aid for recovery and reconstruction efforts; compare that to the whopping 654 million the Rudd government is directing toward fighting people-smuggling in the Asia-Pacific region to aid the interception of traffickers and asylum seekers in like Indonesia.
