DO you remember Maggie Thatcher, Britain’s ‘Iron Lady’? I sure do: she came to power in 1979, just as I was finishing my sociology studies in London and getting ready to head home to Indonesia. ‘None too soon’, I remember thinking. Being a ‘Leftie’ (then), I didn’t want to be around as Britain lurched hard to the Right.
