Jimly Asshiddiqie: Politicians want the easy way out

THE decision of the Constitutional Court to revoke Law No. 16/2003 or the Anti-terrorism Act, as it is applied to the Bali bombing is being both commended and condemned.

Government officials, among them Justice Minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra, said the decision will make Indonesia lose its credibility in its fight against terrorism. On the other hand, the Constitutional Court is being commended for acting in the interest of justice and human rights.
