THE word dwifungsi or dual function, which seemed to have disappeared from usage after the enthusiasm for reform, has suddenly become popular again. It was President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono himself who raised the subject aboard the presidential Airbus A330-341 airplane as he flew above the South China Sea en route to Busan, South Korea, two weeks ago.
