When Meneer Daan Spills the Beans

It was the morning of the second week in February 2006 when the telephone rang. Still half asleep, Daan Dimara hurried to pick it up. The caller was Hamid Awaludin, a former colleague at the General Election Commission (KPU) and the current Justice and Human Rights minister. That morning, the two discussed the procurement of seals for ballot envelopes for the presidential election. The conversation went more or less as follows:
