THE summons for Muslim sunset prayer reverberated through the mosque speakers. The sky was deep orange and the drizzle had just finished when the lamps were lit. A group of men wearing sarongs and women wearing white veils for prayer were rushing to the mosque. After the Muslim ritual prayer was over, the voices of Quran reading, a practice known among Muslims as tadarus, were immediately heard.
