FORESTRY Minister, Malam Sambat Kaban, 49, is once again under the spotlight. Born in Binjai, North Sumatra, Kaban seems to be ‘challenging’ the anti-illegal logging operation conducted by the police. He refused to attend the trial of Adelin Lis in North Sumatra, and similarly refused to be a key witness in a trial in Riau. Instead, he blamed the police for interfering in his forestry sector.
