IN a garden at the Sheraton Bandar Lampung Hotel, in September last year, the singing duet of Kemas Yahya Rahman and his wife Yulisa received an exuberant response from the crowd. The couple cheerfully sang Ribu lah Ribu, a song from Lahat, South Sumatra, one of Kemas’ favorite tunes. When reaching one particular line from the song, the 500 or so people present all stood up and sang along.
