THE statue of a young woman holding a basket of fruit no longer stands at the entry of the elite Kampoeng Paradise housing complex in Pekalongan, Central Java. Initially, the statue was made to complement the complex’s French-style architecture. “The statue was taken down a long time ago,” said Adri Sulistia Nugraha, project manager of PT Arta Kibar, the building contractor for the Kampoeng housing complex.
