The Financial Transactions Reporting & Analysis Center (PPATK) identified the recipients of the travelers checks distributed at the House of Representatives (DPR) four years ago. The checks were provided by supporters of candidates vying for the position of Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor. Most were not cashed by the recipients themselves, but by their drivers or staff members.

AS a member of the House of Representatives (DPR), Agus Condro Prayitno naively thought that travelers checks could only be cashed at the bank which issued them. When he received 10 such checks worth Rp500 million as issued by Bank Internasional Indonesia in mid-2004, this 47-year-old politician headed straight to that bank.
